EV Repairs & Servicing
Electric and hybrid cars still need regular servicing, even though a fully electric car doesn’t need an oil change.
Brakes, tyres, suspension, coolant, and the high-voltage system all need checking to keep the car safe and running efficiently. Our technicians are qualified to IMI Level 3 in electric and hybrid vehicle repair, so we can service and repair these cars properly and safely at our Leven workshop.
The high-voltage systems in electric and hybrid cars carry enough power to be dangerous if they’re handled incorrectly. IMI Level 3 trains technicians to safely isolate the high-voltage system, confirm it’s de-energised, and then repair or replace its components. Garages without this qualification are limited to work away from the high-voltage system, so they can’t take on many EV faults.
An electric car has far fewer moving parts than a petrol or diesel, but it has its own wear points:
Hybrids combine a petrol or diesel engine with electric drive, so they need conventional servicing, including oil and filters, alongside checks on the electric side. We service mild hybrids, full hybrids, and plug-in hybrids.
Our diagnostic equipment reads fault data from the car’s systems, helping us trace warning messages, charging problems, and faults affecting range or performance. Where a repair falls within our qualification, we carry it out in our own workshop. If a job needs specialist battery work beyond that, we’ll tell you straight away and advise on the next step.
If your electric or hybrid car is still under manufacturer warranty, we service it in line with the manufacturer’s schedule using original equipment parts, and we update the online service record. Battery warranties often run for longer than the rest of the car’s cover, so keeping that record complete is especially worthwhile.
It depends on your car’s make, model, and where it is in its service schedule. EV services can cost less than petrol or diesel equivalents because there are fewer parts to replace. We’ll quote before we start.
Follow your manufacturer’s schedule, which is usually based on time or mileage, whichever comes first. We can check the schedule for your car when you book.
