Brakes
If your brakes are squealing, grinding, or feel different under your foot, get them checked as soon as possible.
Brakes wear gradually, so changes can creep up unnoticed until the problem becomes serious. At Lamberts Garage Service Centre, we inspect, repair, and replace brake components on most makes and models, and we’ll show you exactly what we’ve found before any work goes ahead.
Most brake problems give you some warning. Book a check if you notice any of the following.
Many modern cars have an electronic parking brake, which has to be put into a maintenance mode before the rear pads can be changed. Our diagnostic equipment handles this, along with any resets needed afterwards.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over time. That lowers its boiling point and can make the pedal feel soft under heavy braking, such as on a long descent. Most manufacturers recommend replacing it every two years, and we test it as part of any brake check.
We fit original equipment parts, so your brakes perform the way the manufacturer intended. The work is carried out by trained technicians in our Bosch Car Service workshop, and with six ramps we can often fit brake repairs in quickly, which matters when your car doesn’t feel right to drive. One of our five courtesy cars can keep you moving if the job takes longer.
It depends on your car and whether you need pads alone or pads and discs together. We’ll inspect the brakes and quote before starting.
It varies with driving style and the type of car. Town driving with frequent stops wears pads faster than motorway miles, and heavier cars tend to get through them more quickly.
Not always. We measure the discs against the manufacturer’s minimum thickness and check their condition, and we’ll only recommend new ones if they need it.
Yes. Pads and discs should be replaced on both sides of the same axle, so the car brakes evenly.
Yes. The MOT tests braking performance and the condition of the system. If your car fails on brakes in our MOT bay, we’ll explain why and quote for the repair.
As an approved Bosch Car Service centre, Lamberts Garage Service Centre is independently owned but proud to work to Bosch’s standards for workmanship, training, and customer care. Whatever your car needs, you can book with the confidence that one of the world’s most trusted names in automotive engineering stands behind our workshop.
